I like the idea of LED exterior lights. But most of the ones I have seen do not put out much light. Perhaps I have just not seen a good quality one.

Nice hub there Barney (love the name). I'm actually a big fan of these types of lights, although as BealeD said, they don't offer a whole lot in actual lighting. I do use them to accent areas for a nice look.

The lights dont give out much light but i think its a good bet as they are cost effective and give a ambient look to the landscape when used properly in sufficient quantities and at appropriate distances.

The only way to get a lot of light out of lighting that is driven by solar panel is to do it the right way. Put solar panel on your roof and low wattage LEDs in your lighting fixtures. That is the only way to use solar to run decent lighting. Kichler makes a line of LED landscape lighting (http://www.kichlerledlandscapelighting.com) that is amazing. I use a ton of their LEDs in my landscape lighting designs.
